Job 26: The outskirts of his ways
Read Job 26:1-14 before you meet.
In a few lines
Job's "How small a whisper do we hear of him!" (26:14) uses a Hebrew word that comes only twice in the Hebrew Bible: here, and in Eliphaz's "My ear received a whisper of it" (4:12). And the Rahab of 26:12 isn't Rahab of Jericho: the names are different Hebrew words.
The verse to carry
“Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
Job 26:14
To talk about
1. Job asks, "How have you helped him who is without power!" (26:2). When you have been without strength, what actually helped you?
2. "Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways" (26:14). What is one thing you have seen of God that felt like only the edge of something much bigger?
3. Hebrews says the Son is "upholding all things by the word of his power" (Hebrews 1:3). What are you trying to hold up by yourself this week?
