Job 22: Acquaint yourself with him
Read Job 22:1-30 before you meet.
In a few lines
Eliphaz's "Can a man be profitable to God?" (22:2) and his "Acquaint yourself with him" (22:21) are one Hebrew verb, and his "the counsel of the wicked is far from me" (22:18) is Job's own line from the chapter before (21:16).
The verse to carry
“Acquaint yourself with him now, and be at peace. By it, good will come to you.”
Job 22:21
To talk about
1. Eliphaz names wrongs he says Job did (22:5-9), then says, "Therefore snares are around you" (22:10). When someone you know is suffering, how do you decide what to say, and what to leave unsaid?
2. "The Almighty will be your treasure, and precious silver to you" (22:25). What would change in your week if God were your treasure?
3. At the end of the book, the LORD tells Eliphaz that Job will pray for him and his two friends, and Job does (42:8-10). Is there someone you find hard to pray for? What would you ask for them?
