Job 19: I know that my Redeemer lives

Read Job 19:1-29 before you meet.

In a few lines

Job answers Bildad's "Does God pervert justice?" (8:3) with Bildad's own Hebrew verb: "God has subverted me" (19:6). And the stranger his household count him (19:15) is the word he uses of seeing God: "My eyes will see, and not as a stranger" (19:27).

The verse to carry

“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.”

Job 19:25

To talk about

  1. 1. "Have pity on me. Have pity on me, you my friends" (19:21). When you have been in pain, what did you most need from the people around you?

  2. 2. "Oh that my words were now written!" (19:23). Job wanted what he said to be kept, and he says, "I am not heard" (19:7). When have you felt unheard, and what helped?

  3. 3. "But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives" (19:25). Job says it in the same speech in which he tells how his brothers, friends and household have gone from him (19:13-19). What do you hold on to when people fall away?
