James 4: He gives more grace

Read James 4:1-17 before you meet.

In a few lines

In James 4, fight and make war (4:2) are verbs Strong's ties to the fightings and wars of 4:1. And "Resist the devil" (4:7) has another Greek verb than "God resists the proud" (4:6).

The verse to carry

“But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.””

James 4:6

To talk about

  1. 1. "Be subject therefore to God." (4:7). What does that look like in an ordinary week for you?

  2. 2. "Don’t speak against one another, brothers." (4:11). What helps you keep from speaking against someone?

  3. 3. The chapter sets "Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city" (4:13) beside "If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that." (4:15). How do you hold your plans for this week?
