Isaiah 62: Called by a new name
Read Isaiah 62:1-12 before you meet.
In a few lines
Those who call on the LORD are told to take no rest and to give him no rest, with one Hebrew word both times (62:6-7). Beulah (62:4) is the same Hebrew form as "the married wife" (Isaiah 54:1), and 62:11's "his reward is with him, and his recompense before him" is 40:10's line, word for word.
The verse to carry
“You will also be a crown of beauty in the LORD’s hand, and a royal diadem in your God’s hand.”
Isaiah 62:3
To talk about
1. "As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you" (62:5). What does it tell you about God that the chapter pictures him rejoicing like a bridegroom?
2. "You who call on the LORD, take no rest, and give him no rest" (62:6-7). What is something your group could keep bringing to the LORD together this week?
3. "The Holy People, The LORD’s Redeemed" and "Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken" (62:12). Which of the chapter's new names stays with you, and why?
