Isaiah 55: Come to the waters
Read Isaiah 55:1-13 before you meet.
In a few lines
Isaiah's last hoy is the WEB's only "Hey!" (55:1), a call to buy "without money" (55:1). The wicked is told to forsake "his way" and "his thoughts" (55:7), the same Hebrew words as the higher ways and thoughts of 55:8-9. And Paul gives 55:3's words, "the holy and sure blessings of David" (Acts 13:34), in speaking of Jesus raised from the dead.
The verse to carry
“Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near.”
Isaiah 55:6
To talk about
1. The call is to "everyone who thirsts" and to "he who has no money" (55:1). What does it say to you that the invitation goes first to those who have nothing to bring?
2. "Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near" (55:6). What does seeking the LORD look like for you in an ordinary week?
3. The rain "doesn’t return there, but waters the earth" (55:10), and "my word" "will not return to me void" (55:11). Where have you seen God's word do its work, the way the rain does?
