Isaiah 43: I have called you by your name
Read Isaiah 43:1-28 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Hebrew, the verb of "he who formed you, Israel" (43:1) is the verb of "Before me there was no God formed" (43:10). And the LORD's "I have not burdened you … nor wearied you" (43:23) comes back turned around, "you have burdened me … You have wearied me" (43:24), just before "I will not remember your sins" (43:25).
The verse to carry
“But now the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel, says: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1
To talk about
1. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you" (43:2). When have you known God with you in something hard, while it was still going on?
2. The LORD says, "You are my witnesses" (43:10). What have you seen God do that you could tell someone else about?
3. "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins" (43:25). How would it change the way you come to God to take him at these words?
