Isaiah 41: I will help you
Read Isaiah 41:1-29 before you meet.
In a few lines
"Everyone helps his neighbor" (41:6), and the craftsman fastens his work with nails "that it might not totter" (41:7). Then the LORD says to Israel, "I will help you" (41:10) and "will hold your right hand" (41:13), with the same two Hebrew verbs. What they make has to be fastened; the LORD holds his people.
The verse to carry
“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Isaiah 41:10
To talk about
1. In this chapter people tell one another, "Be strong!" (41:6), and the LORD tells his people, "Don’t be afraid. I will help you" (41:13). When you need courage, whose words do you reach for first?
2. Three times the LORD tells Israel not to be afraid, and each time he says *I will help you* in the same verse (41:10, 41:13, 41:14). Which of the three verses speaks to you most this week, and why?
3. The LORD calls Jacob a worm and then says he has made him a new threshing instrument (41:14-15). Why do you think he says both?
