Isaiah 33: He will dwell on high

Read Isaiah 33:1-24 before you meet.

In a few lines

In Isaiah 33 the LORD "dwells on high" (33:5), and the one who walks righteously "will dwell on high" (33:16), with the same Hebrew words. And Jerusalem is "a tent that won’t be removed" (33:20), "nor will any of its cords be broken" (33:20); three verses later, rigging, the same Hebrew word, "is untied" (33:23).

The verse to carry

“For the LORD is our judge. The LORD is our lawgiver. The LORD is our king. He will save us.”

Isaiah 33:22

To talk about

  1. 1. "Be our strength every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble" (33:2). What would it look like for you to ask God for strength each morning this week?

  2. 2. "who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil" (33:15). What helps you guard what you let into your eyes and ears?

  3. 3. "For the LORD is our judge. The LORD is our lawgiver. The LORD is our king. He will save us" (33:22). Which of these is easiest for you to trust, and which is hardest?
