Isaiah 20: A sign and a wonder
Read Isaiah 20:1-6 before you meet.
In a few lines
The same Hebrew words, "naked and barefoot", are said of Isaiah's walk and of the captives of Egypt and Ethiopia, joined by the LORD's As … so (20:3-4). And "where we fled for help" (20:6) is said with the verb and word of an earlier question in the book: "To whom will you flee for help?" (10:3).
The verse to carry
“The inhabitants of this coast land will say in that day, ‘Behold, this is our expectation, where we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria. And we, how will we escape?’”
Isaiah 20:6
To talk about
1. "He did so" (20:2): the chapter gives no word from Isaiah, only what he did. When has doing what you believed God asked of you been hard to explain to the people around you?
2. "Behold, this is our expectation, where we fled for help" (20:6). What do people usually turn to first when trouble comes, before they turn to God?
3. Chapter 10 asked, "To whom will you flee for help?" (10:3). If you answered that honestly for this week, what would you say?
