Isaiah 12: The wells of salvation

Read Isaiah 12:1-6 before you meet.

In a few lines

Five times a refrain said, "his anger is not turned away" (9:17). The song of chapter 12 answers in the same Hebrew words, "your anger has turned away and you comfort me" (12:1), and at its heart it sings the words Israel sang after the sea: "my strength and song; and he has become my salvation" (12:2).

The verse to carry

“Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD, the LORD, is my strength and song; and he has become my salvation.”

Isaiah 12:2

To talk about

  1. 1. Five times a refrain in Isaiah said, "his anger is not turned away" (9:17); then the song says, "your anger has turned away and you comfort me" (12:1). What changes in the way you pray when you start from that line?

  2. 2. "I will trust, and will not be afraid" (12:2). What is one fear you would like to hand over for trust this week?

  3. 3. "Declare his doings among the peoples!" (12:4). What has God done for you that the people around you have never heard you tell?
