Hebrews 9: Offered once
Read Hebrews 9:1-28 before you meet.
In a few lines
Hebrews 9 walks through the first covenant's "earthly sanctuary" (9:1), then turns: "But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things" (9:11). It closes with Christ "offered once to bear the sins of many", who "will appear a second time" (9:28).
The verse to carry
“so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
Hebrews 9:28
To talk about
1. "For a tabernacle was prepared." (9:2). The letter names what was in it, one thing after another. What helps you slow down and notice what a passage says?
2. "every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people" (9:19). What changes when a whole group hears the same words together?
3. "to save those who are eagerly waiting for him" (9:28). What does it look like to wait eagerly for someone?
