Genesis 7: The LORD shut him in

Read Genesis 7:1-24 before you meet.

In a few lines

The flood is told in the words of Genesis 1: the great deep bursts open and the sky's windows open. But before it begins, the LORD himself shuts Noah in, and when every living thing has been wiped away, Noah and those with him are left.

The verse to carry

“The LORD said to Noah, “Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.”

Genesis 7:1

To talk about

  1. 1. "Then the LORD shut him in." What do you make of the detail that God himself closed the ship?

  2. 2. Noah's family was inside the ship for months while the waters stayed. What helps you hold on through a long season of waiting?

  3. 3. "Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship." Who are the people in the ship with you right now?
