Genesis 5: Then he died
Read Genesis 5:1-32 before you meet.
In a few lines
Genesis 5 is a list of lives that close the same way, "then he died", just as God warned. One entry breaks the pattern: Enoch walked with God, and God took him. And the chapter ends with a father naming his son Noah, hoping for comfort from the cursed ground.
The verse to carry
“Enoch walked with God, and he was not found, for God took him.”
Genesis 5:24
To talk about
1. Each life here is summed up in a few lines, most ending "then he died". How does that make you think about your own days?
2. Enoch walked with God for three hundred years while raising a family. What does walking with God look like in an ordinary week for you?
3. Lamech hoped his son would bring comfort from hard, cursed ground. Where are you longing for that kind of comfort?
