Genesis 15: Count the stars
Read Genesis 15:1-21 before you meet.
In a few lines
Abram's first recorded words to God are an honest question. God answers with the stars, Abram believes, and it's credited to him as righteousness, years before circumcision and centuries before the law. Then, after a deep sleep falls on Abram, a smoking furnace and a flaming torch pass between the pieces, and the LORD makes a covenant with him.
The verse to carry
“He believed in the LORD, who credited it to him for righteousness.”
Genesis 15:6
To talk about
1. Abram's first recorded words to God were an honest question about what he didn't have. How honest are you with God about what you're missing?
2. Abram believed while he was still childless. What promise of God are you being asked to believe before you see it?
3. God told Abram about four hundred hard years along with the promise. How do you hold on to God's promises when the road is long?
