Genesis 14: Priest of God Most High
Read Genesis 14:1-24 before you meet.
In a few lines
Abram rescues Lot and meets two kings. Melchizedek, the first person the Bible calls a priest, brings out bread and wine, blesses Abram and receives a tenth of all, the Bible's first tithe; the king of Sodom offers riches and Abram refuses. Hebrews sees in Melchizedek a picture of Jesus, a priest forever.
The verse to carry
“Blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.”
Genesis 14:20
To talk about
1. Lot moved to Sodom and was carried off with it, but Abram went after him. Who in your life might need you to go after them?
2. Melchizedek blessed God "who has delivered your enemies into your hand". How do you give God the credit for the good things in your life?
3. Abram refused a reward so no one could say the king of Sodom had made him rich. When is it right to turn down something good?
