Genesis 12: All the families of the earth
Read Genesis 12:1-20 before you meet.
In a few lines
Before Genesis 12, Genesis says "cursed" five times; in God's first words to Abram it says "bless" or "blessing" five times, ending with all the families of the earth. Peter says God sent Jesus to bring that blessing.
The verse to carry
“I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12:2-3
To talk about
1. God told Abram to leave before telling him where he was going. What would be hardest for you to leave?
2. God blesses Abram so that he will be a blessing to all the families of the earth. Who might God want to bless through you?
3. Right after leaving everything at God's word, Abram feared for his life and asked Sarai to say she was his sister. Why do you think faith and fear can sit so close together?
