Genesis 1: In the beginning

Read Genesis 1:1-2:3 before you meet.

In a few lines

Genesis 1 tells you who made everything, that God saw all he had made and it was very good, that people, male and female, are made in God's image and given the earth to rule, and that the first week ends with a day God blessed and made holy.

The verse to carry

“God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.”

Genesis 1:27

To talk about

  1. 1. "God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (1:31). How does that change the way you see the world around you?

  2. 2. If every person carries God's image, who in your week is hardest to see that way?

  3. 3. God's week ends in rest, not work. What would it look like for your week to be shaped that way?
