Galatians 6: Except in the cross
Read Galatians 6:1-18 before you meet.
In a few lines
The letter's I ends by naming the one boast it allows, "far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ" (6:14), and the letter's last words are "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen." (6:18).
The verse to carry
“But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”
Galatians 6:14
To talk about
1. "restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness" (6:1). What might gentleness look like when someone has gone wrong, and why can it be hard?
2. "Let’s not be weary in doing good" (6:9). What helps you keep going when doing good feels long?
3. "But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ" (6:14). What do you notice when the letter's *I* leaves itself only this one boast?
