Exodus 7: The river turned to blood

Read Exodus 7:1-25 before you meet.

In a few lines

Pharaoh had said, "I don't know the LORD"; in Exodus 7 God answers, "The Egyptians shall know." Aaron speaks as Moses' prophet, his mouth. Aaron's rod swallowed the magicians' rods, and the river Pharaoh had ordered every newborn son cast into was turned to blood. The magicians made more of it, and Pharaoh went home without taking it to heart.

The verse to carry

“The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and bring the children of Israel out from among them.”

Exodus 7:5

To talk about

  1. 1. Pharaoh saw the river turn to blood and "didn't even take this to heart." What is something God has shown you that you've been slow to take to heart?

  2. 2. Moses was eighty and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. What does that say to you about when God can use someone?

  3. 3. God told Moses ahead of time, "Pharaoh will not listen to you," and sent him anyway. When have you kept doing or saying what was right when you expected no response?
