Exodus 14: The LORD will fight for you
Read Exodus 14 before you meet.
In a few lines
The Hebrew verb for Pharaoh making his heart heavy (8:15) is the verb the LORD uses when he says, "I will get honor over Pharaoh" (14:4), and in "they drove them heavily" (14:25), "heavily" is a noun from the same family. The "wall" of water (14:22) is the Hebrew Bible's usual word for a city wall, used here for the first time.
The verse to carry
“The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still.”
Exodus 14:14
To talk about
1. Hemmed in by the sea, the people said it would have been better to serve the Egyptians (14:12). When has going back to what you knew looked safer than going where God was leading?
2. "The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still" (14:14), and then, "go forward" (14:15). Where do you need to be still right now, and where do you need to take the next step?
3. "Israel saw the great work which the LORD did" and "believed" (14:31). What has God done in your life that you want to remember the next time you're afraid?
