Ephesians 3: The mystery of Christ
Read Ephesians 3:1-21 before you meet.
In a few lines
Ephesians 3 speaks of a mystery "which for ages has been hidden in God" (3:9), and says "that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of his promise in Christ Jesus through the Good News" (3:6); three times in 3:2-8 it says grace was given to the one who calls himself "the very least of all saints" (3:8).
The verse to carry
“Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
To talk about
1. "To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given" (3:8). What does it mean to you that grace was given to someone who called himself the very least?
2. "In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him." (3:12). What difference do these words make to how you come to God?
3. "and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge" (3:19). How would you put into words a love that surpasses knowledge?
