Deuteronomy 3: Let me go over
Read Deuteronomy 3:1-29 before you meet.
In a few lines
Deuteronomy tells Og and the east bank again, and adds what Numbers doesn't: sixty cities "fortified with high walls", the kind the spies had feared, all taken (3:4-5); and Moses' own prayer, "Please let me go over and see the good land" (3:25). The answer was "That is enough!" (3:26): he would see it from Pisgah, and strengthen Joshua to go over (3:27-28).
The verse to carry
“You shall not fear them; for the LORD your God himself fights for you.”
Deuteronomy 3:22
To talk about
1. Moses told Joshua, "Your eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. So shall the LORD do to all the kingdoms where you go over" (3:21). What has God already done that you can look back on when the next thing feels too big?
2. Moses asked to go over the Jordan and was told, "That is enough! Speak no more to me of this matter" (3:26). Is there something you have asked God for that he hasn't given? How do you pray about it now?
3. Instead of crossing, Moses was told to "commission Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people" (3:28). Who is going further than you will, and how could you strengthen them this week?
