Deuteronomy 11: A land the LORD cares for
Read Deuteronomy 11:1-32 before you meet.
In a few lines
Moses speaks to the ones who saw, not their children (11:2, 11:7), and tells them to teach the LORD's words to the children who didn't (11:18-19). The land ahead isn't watered by foot like Egypt; it drinks the rain of the sky, "a land which the LORD your God cares for", with his eyes always on it (11:10-12). Then two ways: "a blessing and a curse" (11:26).
The verse to carry
“a land which the LORD your God cares for. The LORD your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.”
Deuteronomy 11:12
To talk about
1. Moses spoke to those whose "eyes have seen" (11:7) and told them to teach their children, who hadn't (11:2, 11:19). What have you seen God do that someone younger than you hasn't yet heard from you?
2. "The LORD your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year" (11:12). Where in your life right now do you most need to know that God's eyes are on it?
3. "Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse" (11:26). Where this week do you face a choice between listening to God and turning aside?
