Acts 7: I see the heavens opened
Read Acts 7:1-60 before you meet.
In a few lines
Stephen's first words are of "The God of glory" (7:2), and at the end he "saw the glory of God" (7:55): in Acts's Greek, one noun. All through his story he says "our fathers", until "As your fathers did, so you do" (7:51).
The verse to carry
“and said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!””
Acts 7:56
To talk about
1. Stephen tells God's story from Abraham to Solomon (7:2-47). If you told the story of what God has done in your life, where would you begin?
2. Stephen "looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God" (7:55). What helps you look up to God when things around you are hard?
3. At the very end Stephen called out, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!" (7:59). What does it mean to you that he spoke to Jesus by name then?
