Acts 4: With all boldness

Read Acts 4:1-37 before you meet.

In a few lines

Boldness is one Greek word three times in Acts 4: the council sees it in two unlearned men who "had been with Jesus" (4:13), the prayer asks for it (4:29), and "they spoke the word of God with boldness" (4:31). The WEB's Acts has "with all boldness" once more, in the book's very last verse (28:31).

The verse to carry

“There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

Acts 4:12

To talk about

  1. 1. The council saw that Peter and John were "unlearned and ignorant men", and "They recognized that they had been with Jesus" (4:13). What would you hope people notice about you after time with Jesus?

  2. 2. When Peter and John reported to their own company (4:23), those who heard it prayed, "look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness" (4:29). If you were under pressure this week, what would you ask God for?

  3. 3. The apostles called Joses "Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of Encouragement)" (4:36). Who has been an encouragement to you, and whom could you encourage this week?
