Acts 25: To Caesar you shall go

Read Acts 25:1-27 before you meet.

In a few lines

Acts 25 names Jesus once, and only in Festus's words to the king: "one Jesus, who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive" (25:19). Paul's own words in the chapter are his defense and "I appeal to Caesar!" (25:11).

The verse to carry

“For if I have done wrong and have committed anything worthy of death, I don’t refuse to die; but if none of those things is true that they accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!”

Acts 25:11

To talk about

  1. 1. Paul said, "if none of those things is true that they accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!" (25:11). When have you had to speak up for yourself about something you didn't do? What helped you do it?

  2. 2. Agrippa said, "I also would like to hear the man myself." (25:22). Why does it matter to hear someone for yourself, and not only what others say about them?

  3. 3. Festus spoke of "one Jesus, who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive" (25:19). If someone asked you what you say about Jesus, what would you tell them?
