Acts 20: The whole counsel of God
Read Acts 20:1-38 before you meet.
In a few lines
In Paul's words to the elders of Ephesus, testify is one Greek verb three times: he testified "both to Jews and to Greeks" (20:21), "the Holy Spirit testifies in every city" (20:23), and his ministry is "to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God" (20:24). And he tells them to remember words of the Lord Jesus that no Gospel gives: "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (20:35).
The verse to carry
“But these things don’t count; nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.”
Acts 20:24
To talk about
1. Paul says, "I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable" (20:20). Is there something true and good you've held back from saying to someone? What would help you say it?
2. "nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy" (20:24). What would finishing your own race with joy look like for you?
3. Paul says, "In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak" (20:35). Whose example has shown you what that looks like?
