Acts 19: The name was magnified
Read Acts 19:1-41 before you meet.
In a few lines
The name the exorcists took on themselves to invoke, "the name of the Lord Jesus" (19:13), is, in the same Greek words, the name that "was magnified" (19:17). And "So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty" (19:20) ends, in the Greek, with the verb behind prevailed in 19:16.
The verse to carry
“So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.”
Acts 19:20
To talk about
1. When "some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way", Paul went on "reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus" (19:9). When people speak against what you believe, what helps you keep going?
2. "Many also of those who had believed came, confessing and declaring their deeds" (19:18). What makes it hard, or easier, to be honest with others about what you've done?
3. The town clerk told the crowd, "you ought to be quiet and to do nothing rash" (19:36). When the people around you are stirred up, what helps you stay steady?
