2 Thessalonians 2: Stand firm

Read 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17 before you meet.

In a few lines

In 2:16-17 the WEB says comfort twice, "eternal comfort" (2:16) and "comfort your hearts" (2:17), and they are two words: behind the first is a noun, and behind the second the verb Strong's gives the noun as coming from.

The verse to carry

“Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.”

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

To talk about

  1. 1. "But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers" (2:13). Who could you give thanks to God for this week, and would you tell them?

  2. 2. "So then, brothers, stand firm" (2:15). What helps you stand firm when things around you change?

  3. 3. "establish you in every good work and word" (2:17). What good work, or good word, could you take up this week?
