2 Samuel 16: Let him curse
Read 2 Samuel 16:1-23 before you meet.
In a few lines
Shimei shouted that the LORD "has returned on you all the blood of Saul’s house" (16:8). David, who could have had him killed, used the same Hebrew verb in hope: "the LORD will repay me good for the cursing of me today" (16:12).
The verse to carry
“It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done to me, and that the LORD will repay me good for the cursing of me today.”
2 Samuel 16:12
To talk about
1. David had the men to silence Shimei and said, "Leave him alone" (16:11). When someone speaks against you, what helps you not to answer back?
2. David gave Ziba all that belonged to Mephibosheth on Ziba's word alone (16:3-4). When have you made up your mind after hearing only one side, and what happened?
3. "It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done to me" (16:12). Is there a wrong done to you that you could leave with the LORD this week?
