2 Peter 2: The way of the truth
Read 2 Peter 2:1-22 before you meet.
In a few lines
In 2 Peter 2 one Greek verb comes three times: the way of the truth will be maligned (2:2), they speak evil of dignitaries (2:10), and they are speaking evil in matters they are ignorant of (2:12). In between, angels "don’t bring a slanderous judgment" (2:11), with the adjective Strong's makes that verb from.
The verse to carry
“promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.”
2 Peter 2:19
To talk about
1. "whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don’t bring a slanderous judgment" (2:11). What helps you hold back from harsh words about someone, even when you could say them?
2. "speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant" (2:12). What helps you slow down before you speak about something you don't yet understand?
3. "These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm" (2:17). The verse speaks in pictures. Which picture stays with you, and why?
