2 Kings 10: With all his heart
Read 2 Kings 10:1-36 before you meet.
In a few lines
The LORD says Jehu did "that which is right in my eyes" (10:30); the next verse says he didn't walk in the LORD's law "with all his heart" (10:31). The LORD had said both of David (1 Kings 14:8); of Jehu, only one. And the word for how Jehu gathered Baal's worshipers, "deceptively" (10:19), is found nowhere else in the Hebrew Bible.
The verse to carry
“But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.”
2 Kings 10:31
To talk about
1. Jehu asked Jehonadab, "Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart?" (10:15). Who could you ask that of, and who could ask it of you?
2. Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel, but didn't depart from the golden calves Jeroboam had set up long before (10:28-29; 1 Kings 12:29). Why can the wrong we've got used to be harder to let go of than the one everyone can see?
3. The book says Jehu "took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart" (10:31). What would walking with all your heart look like for you this week?
