2 Corinthians 4: Treasure in clay vessels
Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-18 before you meet.
In a few lines
Behind light in "the light of the Good News" (4:4) and "the light of the knowledge" (4:6) is one Greek noun, and the New Testament has it only in these two verses. And "we don’t faint" (4:1) comes again at 4:16, after "pressed on every side, yet not crushed" (4:8).
The verse to carry
“But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves.”
2 Corinthians 4:7
To talk about
1. "For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord" (4:5). What helps you point people to Jesus rather than to yourself?
2. "that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves" (4:7). What helps you remember that the power is God's and not your own?
3. "while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen" (4:18). What helps you keep your eyes on what is not seen in an ordinary week?
