2 Corinthians 10: Whom the Lord commends
Read 2 Corinthians 10:1-18 before you meet.
In a few lines
2 Corinthians 10 gives the letter's "I" a name: "Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ" (10:1). It says the Lord gave its authority "for building you up and not for casting you down" (10:8), and it ends, "For it isn’t he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends." (10:18).
The verse to carry
“But “he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.””
2 Corinthians 10:17
To talk about
1. "by the humility and gentleness of Christ" (10:1). Where could humility and gentleness shape the way you speak to someone this week?
2. "for building you up and not for casting you down" (10:8). What helps you build someone up with your words?
3. "measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves" (10:12). When do you find yourself comparing yourself with others, and what helps you let it go?
