2 Chronicles 9: On his throne

Read 2 Chronicles 9:1-31 before you meet.

In a few lines

Where 1 Kings has the queen bless the LORD for setting Solomon "on the throne of Israel" (1 Kings 10:9), 2 Chronicles has "set you on his throne to be king for the LORD your God" (9:8): the throne is the LORD's. And 2 Chronicles closes Solomon's reign with its riches, his records and his death, without telling of his heart turning (1 Kings 11:4).

The verse to carry

“All the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.”

2 Chronicles 9:23

To talk about

  1. 1. The queen said, "I didn’t believe their words until I came, and my eyes had seen it" (9:6). What is something about God you only believed once you had seen it for yourself?

  2. 2. She came with hard questions and "talked with him about all that was in her heart" (9:1). If you could bring one hard question about God face to face, what would it be?

  3. 3. The queen blessed the LORD for Solomon (9:8), not only Solomon. When someone near you does well, how easy is it to thank God for them? What makes it harder?
