2 Chronicles 35: Prepare for your brothers
Read 2 Chronicles 35:1-27 before you meet.
In a few lines
Josiah's Passover is a chapter of preparing: the Hebrew verb for prepare comes eight times, and the Levites prepared for their brothers, the priests and the singers (35:14-15). Then the king who "had prepared the temple" (35:20) "didn’t listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God" (35:22), disguised himself as Ahab once had (18:29), and died.
The verse to carry
“Kill the Passover lamb, sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the LORD’s word by Moses.”
2 Chronicles 35:6
To talk about
1. The singers didn't need to leave their service "because their brothers the Levites prepared for them" (35:15). Who has quietly made room for you to do what God gave you to do? How could you do that for someone this week?
2. Josiah "didn’t listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God" (35:22). The warning came through the king of Egypt. When has a warning you needed come from an unexpected person? What helps you listen?
3. Josiah told the Levites the ark would "no longer be a burden on your shoulders. Now serve the LORD your God and his people Israel" (35:3). When one work in your life ends, how do you look for the next way to serve?
