2 Chronicles 32: A greater one with us
Read 2 Chronicles 32:1-33 before you meet.
In a few lines
2 Chronicles 32 begins with trouble coming "After these things and this faithfulness" (32:1), and ends Hezekiah's story with God leaving him "to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart" (32:31): in Hebrew the same test, know and heart as the wilderness years of Deuteronomy 8:2.
The verse to carry
““Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater one with us than with him. An arm of flesh is with him, but the LORD our God is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.”
2 Chronicles 32:7-8
To talk about
1. Sennacherib came "After these things and this faithfulness" (32:1). When has trouble come right after you'd been faithful, and what did you do with it?
2. "The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah" (32:8). Whose words do you lean on when you're afraid, and what makes them worth leaning on?
3. God left Hezekiah "to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart" (32:31). What has a hard or a good season shown you about your own heart?
