2 Chronicles 30: If you return to him

Read 2 Chronicles 30:1-27 before you meet.

In a few lines

Hezekiah's letters use one Hebrew verb, shuv, six times in 30:6-9: turn again, and the LORD will return (30:6-9). And the promise at their heart uses another: he "will not turn away his face from you if you return to him" (30:9), where turn away is sur, to remove.

The verse to carry

“For if you turn again to the LORD, your brothers and your children will find compassion with those who led them captive, and will come again into this land, because the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you if you return to him.”

2 Chronicles 30:9

To talk about

  1. 1. "Turn again to the LORD… that he may return to the remnant of you" (30:6). What would turning again to the LORD look like for you this week?

  2. 2. Some mocked the couriers, and "Nevertheless some men… humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem" (30:11). What makes it hard to come to God when people around you are laughing at it?

  3. 3. Hezekiah prayed for people who came "even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary" (30:19). Have you ever held back from God because you felt you weren't ready? What helped you come?
