2 Chronicles 29: The doors opened
Read 2 Chronicles 29:1-36 before you meet.
In a few lines
One chapter after Ahaz shut the doors of the LORD's house (28:24), Hezekiah opened them in the first month of his reign (29:3), and the sin offering was made "to make atonement for all Israel" (29:24), because the king commanded it. And when the priests were too few, the Levites, "more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests" (29:34), helped until the work was done.
The verse to carry
“My sons, don’t be negligent now; for the LORD has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers and burn incense.”
2 Chronicles 29:11
To talk about
1. Hezekiah didn't wait: "in the first year of his reign, in the first month" he opened the doors (29:3). What have you been putting off in your walk with God? What would opening that door look like this week?
2. Hezekiah reminded the Levites what they were chosen for: "My sons, don’t be negligent now" (29:11). What has God given you to do that you're tempted to let slide? What would it look like to take it up again?
3. When the priests were too few, "their brothers the Levites helped them until the work was ended" (29:34). Who has stepped in to help you carry something? Who could you help this week?
