2 Chronicles 24: All the days of Jehoiada
Read 2 Chronicles 24:1-27 before you meet.
In a few lines
2 Chronicles buries a priest "among the kings, because he had done good in Israel" (24:16), and a king "in David’s city, but they didn’t bury him in the tombs of the kings" (24:25). Between the two graves, the chapter uses one Hebrew verb five times: azav, forsake.
The verse to carry
“Yet he sent prophets to them to bring them again to the LORD, and they testified against them; but they would not listen.”
2 Chronicles 24:19
To talk about
1. Joash did right "all the days of Jehoiada the priest" (24:2). Who has helped hold your faith steady, and what would change for you if they were gone?
2. "All the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in" (24:10). When has giving felt like joy to you, and when has it felt more like a tax?
3. "Yet he sent prophets to them… but they would not listen" (24:19). What makes it hard for you to listen when someone tells you what you'd rather not hear?
