2 Chronicles 1: Wisdom and knowledge
Read 2 Chronicles 1:1-17 before you meet.
In a few lines
2 Chronicles opens with the verbs of David's prayer in 1 Chronicles 29, "It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength" (1 Chronicles 29:12). Its first verse says Solomon "was firmly established" and the LORD "made him exceedingly great" (1:1): in Hebrew, chazaq and gadal. And the "riches" and "honor" of that prayer are what God adds at Gibeon (1:12).
The verse to carry
“Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?”
2 Chronicles 1:10
To talk about
1. At the start of his reign Solomon went with all the assembly to the Tent of Meeting and the altar at Gibeon (1:3-6). When you start something new, where do you go first, and who goes with you?
2. God said to Solomon, "Because this was in your heart" (1:11). If God looked at what is in your heart this week, what do you hope he would find there?
3. Solomon asked for wisdom and knowledge "that I may go out and come in before this people" (1:10). Who are the people you go out and come in before, and what would you ask God for, for them?
