1 Timothy 5: Widows indeed
Read 1 Timothy 5:1-25 before you meet.
In a few lines
In 1 Timothy 5, relieved in "if she has relieved the afflicted" (5:10) and relieve, twice in 5:16, are one Greek verb the New Testament has nowhere else. And evident (5:24) and obvious (5:25) are one Greek word.
The verse to carry
“In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can’t be hidden.”
1 Timothy 5:25
To talk about
1. "exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;" (5:1). Who among believers has been like a father, mother, brother or sister to you, and how could you thank them this week?
2. "has her hope set on God and continues in petitions and prayers night and day" (5:5). What helps you keep your hope set on God?
3. "In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can’t be hidden." (5:25). What good work have you seen someone do that few people noticed?
