1 Thessalonians 1: An example to all who believe
Read 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 before you meet.
In a few lines
1 Thessalonians 1 says the readers "became imitators of us and of the Lord" (1:6), and then "an example to all who believe" (1:7), and "from you the word of the Lord has been declared" (1:8). Behind declared is a verb the New Testament has only here; Strong's gives its sense as "resound (be generally reported)".
The verse to carry
“remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.”
1 Thessalonians 1:3
To talk about
1. "We always give thanks to God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers" (1:2). Who could you thank God for this week, and mention by name when you pray?
2. "your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope" (1:3). Where have you seen faith, love or hope at work in someone this week?
3. "so that you became an example to all who believe" (1:7). Whose example has helped you in your faith, and what did you learn from it?
