1 Samuel 30: They shall share alike
Read 1 Samuel 30:1-31 before you meet.
In a few lines
At Ziklag the LORD told David he would "without fail recover all" (30:8), and "There was nothing lacking" (30:19). Then David ruled that the two hundred too faint to go on would get the same share as the men who fought, "They shall share alike" (30:24), because the plunder was "that which the LORD has given to us" (30:23).
The verse to carry
“David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the souls of all the people were grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters; but David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”
1 Samuel 30:6
To talk about
1. When everything was taken and his own men spoke of stoning him, "David strengthened himself in the LORD his God" (30:6). What does that look like for you when the people around you have turned against you?
2. Two hundred men were too faint to go on (30:10), and David said they would share alike with the men who fought (30:24). Who around you is the one who "stays with the baggage" (30:24), and how do you treat them?
3. The Egyptian had been left behind sick for three days (30:12-13), and David's men fed him before they asked him anything (30:11-13). Who have you passed by who was left behind?
