1 Kings 10: Not even half was told me
Read 1 Kings 10:1-29 before you meet.
In a few lines
The queen of Sheba came because she heard of Solomon's fame "concerning the LORD’s name" (10:1), and she left having blessed the LORD, who made Solomon king "because the LORD loved Israel forever" (10:9). Jesus called her "The Queen of the South": she "came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here" (Matthew 12:42).
The verse to carry
“All the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put in his heart.”
1 Kings 10:24
To talk about
1. The queen came "to test him with hard questions" and "talked with him about all that was in her heart" (10:1-2). What hard question are you carrying right now, and who could you bring it to?
2. "I didn’t believe the words until I came and my eyes had seen it" (10:7). When has seeing something for yourself changed what you believed about God or about someone else?
3. She came "from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon", and Jesus said, "someone greater than Solomon is here" (Matthew 12:42). What would it look like for you to go out of your way to hear Jesus' words this week?
