1 Chronicles 28: If you seek him
Read 1 Chronicles 28:1-21 before you meet.
In a few lines
In 28:9, "the LORD searches all hearts" and "If you seek him" are one Hebrew verb, darash: the LORD searches, and Solomon is to seek. And the throne Solomon is chosen for is called "the throne of the LORD’s kingdom" (28:5), words the WEB uses nowhere else.
The verse to carry
“You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.”
1 Chronicles 28:9
To talk about
1. David told Solomon to serve God "with a perfect heart and with a willing mind" (28:9). What makes a willing mind hard for you, and what helps?
2. "the LORD searches all hearts" (28:9). Is that a comfort to you, a worry, or both? Why?
3. It was in David's heart to build, and God said no (28:2-3), yet David handed Solomon everything for the work (28:11-21). What could you prepare this year for someone else to carry on?
