1 Chronicles 26: For every gate
Read 1 Chronicles 26:1-32 before you meet.
In a few lines
The doorkeepers took their gates by lot, "the small as well as the great" (26:13); Obed-Edom had eight sons "for God blessed him" (26:5); and a son of Gershom, the son of Moses, kept the treasuries, where even what Saul had dedicated was kept beside David's gifts (26:24, 26:28).
The verse to carry
“They cast lots, the small as well as the great, according to their fathers’ houses, for every gate.”
1 Chronicles 26:13
To talk about
1. The gates were given by lot, "the small as well as the great" (26:13). Where do you find it hard to believe that your part matters as much as someone else's, or theirs as much as yours?
2. Some of the plunder won in battles was dedicated "to repair the LORD’s house" (26:27). What has come to you through a hard season that you could give back to God's work?
3. The same men were set "for all the business of the LORD and for the service of the king" (26:30). Where does your everyday work meet your service to God, and what would help you see both as done before him?
