1 Chronicles 25: The teacher as well as the student
Read 1 Chronicles 25:1-31 before you meet.
In a few lines
David set the singers apart to prophesy with harps, and Jeduthun "prophesied in giving thanks and praising the LORD" (25:3). When their offices were given out, the lot fell "all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the student" (25:8), and student is a word the Hebrew Bible uses only there.
The verse to carry
“They cast lots for their offices, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the student.”
1 Chronicles 25:8
To talk about
1. Jeduthun "prophesied in giving thanks and praising the LORD with the harp" (25:3). When has someone else's thanks to God spoken to you?
2. The lots were cast "all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the student" (25:8). Where do you find it hardest to stand alongside others as an equal, whether you feel above them or below them?
3. Heman's sons served "under the hands of their father for song in the LORD’s house" (25:6). Who handed on to you a way of worshiping God, and who might you hand it on to?
