1 Chronicles 23: No longer carrying
Read 1 Chronicles 23:1-32 before you meet.
In a few lines
When David says the Levites "will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels" (23:26), he lays down the very task Numbers 1:50 gave them, with the same Hebrew verb and the same words for the tabernacle and its vessels. And Aaron is set apart "to minister to him, and to bless in his name" (23:13) in the words Deuteronomy 10:8 used of the whole tribe of Levi.
The verse to carry
“and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening;”
1 Chronicles 23:30
To talk about
1. Old and full of days, David set the Levites in order for the work of the LORD's house, and they were counted by his last words (23:1-6, 23:27). Who made you ready to serve, and who might you be making ready?
2. Moses' sons were "named among the tribe of Levi" (23:14), not set apart with Aaron and his sons (23:13). How do you feel about serving without a title or a name that stands out?
3. Some Levites' work was to stand every morning and evening to thank and praise the LORD (23:30). What would change if your days began and ended with thanks?
